After a two-year break, the award-winning event showcasing exhilarating, high-octane V8 Jetsprint racing action is returning to ASB Stadium at Baypark in Mt Maunganui.
A spectacular five-hour day/night racing extravaganza with three classes of V8-powered Jetsprint boats battling it out for the ENZED 2018 Jetsprints Stadium Cup — 30 boats reaching speeds of up to 125kph – all on a purpose-built aqua-track in the stadium.
The covered stadium seating allows spectators to get up close to the exhilarating racing action, with thrills ‘n spills and action-packed family entertainment both on and off the track. With near sell-out crowds of 15,000+ in past years, tickets are expected to go fast, so get in quick to secure your seat.
Combining Kiwis’ love of V8 motorsports and boating, the sport of jetsprinting originated 30+ years ago on rivers and picturesque farmland aqua-tracks. The precision, kiwi-engineered boats have to be seen to be believed! Highly-skilled 2-person crews (driver/navigator) navigate a set course in time trial racing. The boats boast up to 1500hp, 0-130kph in under 2 secs and pull up to 7 g’s. The Suzuki Superboat class are aptly named “methanol munching monsters”! The Altherm Window Systems NZ Championship Series hosts rounds in Wanaka, Whanganui, Taranaki, Hastings, Meremere and Featherston. For more info: www.jetsprint.co.nz
